Biobutanol is butanol made with biomass, which flips the usual carbon based solvent into one which is considered a renewable fuel. Biobutanol has becme an important option to carbon based fuel and as more types of biomass are used to make it, it will become more and more available on mass.

Well to be fair it’s also Ford and GM, but the title sounds nice. Chrysler and Ford announced today they are putting “plants on idle” due to heavy financial uncertainty. If people haven’t woken up yet they won’t until it’s too late. The Big 3 will collapse and with the collapse we will ahve an opportunity to rebuild our vehicular system in a much better and world friendly way. Let’s hope we seize the opportunity.

TH!NK is Still Kicking
Well it’s been quite a whirlwind week for TH!NK Cars, the Norwegian electric car manufacturer. It was reported earlier that TH!NK was very close to bankruptcy. The Norwegian government refused to give them a life line and it seemed all over and then all of the sudden Stein Erik Hagen one of the richest in Norway has pledged to increase his investment in TH!NK if others will follow. This is great news. I really like TH!NK and want them to succeed.
Biodiesel: Is it a solution?

Biodiesel is one of the most covered and known of the alternative fuels. At its core is its ability to be used not inly by itself, but also to be mized with gasoline if need be. This flexibility maybe behind some of the excitement. It is fairly esy to procue in that it can be drawn from a variety of oils such as soy bean and animal fats. The fact that some people have suggested recycling oils that are the leftover of restaurants and other food services has not been lost in the debsate. With all of this biodoesel stands as the best shot at least in the short run in over taking gasoline as a future liquid fuel.

Here Come the Bailout

So the Congress has decided that it is better to prop up the rotting Big 3 of automobiles rather than let them fall and encourage smaller, more conscience companies rise up in their places. It is obvious that the gov’t has such duplicity in our current financial and energy crisis. They have determined to watch out for the interest of their financial buddies rather than their countrymen.

Bailing Out The Broke

While congress seeks to emphatically stamp itself as the bailout kings, I would like to offer up some advice to our esteemed “representatives.” Please do not give away our money to those who have put ourselves into this position. You already paid the crooks on Wall Street o please don’t do the same to those in Detroit. They have had years to design cars that would distance oursleves from despotic regimes and that would disconnect our addiction to oil, yet they have failed and fail time again. Please do not give them the money unless they sign on the dotted line to develop new future cars.

Hydrogen fuel cell cars have been around for a while. The concept of the hydrogen highway had already inspired green car enthusiasts in the 70s, yet now there is what to be excited about. Technology now exists that makes fuel cell cars very efficient. In fact in California they have already built an extensive highway fuel cell infrastructure. The future is bright!

Check it out. It looks weird, but it is really innovative. I tend to like Venturi stuff. I was first turned onto them by the Astrolab, but this shows that they are not a one car wonder. They will for sure have what to offer in terms of future cars for years to come.
